Kaoru Sato
London based musician, writer, designer and photographer
Biography
I am a musician, writer, designer/developer and photographer. I grew up, live and work in London, though I was born in Tokyo.
I am currently fronting and playing many instruments in a new post punk / post rock music project, The Dead Zoo. I’m also known as a member of Deathline, Easterhead, Six Inch Killaz (RIP), Electric Shocks (RIP) and Weird Sex (RIP).
I also compose and perform experimental, instrumental music, primarily for my own pleasure, though I do feel that this might eventually be suitable for soundtrack and other performance purposes. I am an accomplished recording and mixing engineer and much of my music is self produced.
My first published piece of short fiction appeared Summer 2019 in the anthology ‘Trans Love’ from Jessica Kingsley Publishers. I am currently working on a Young Adult novel and a collection of interlinked short stories.
My photography can be found for licensing at Getty Images, and you can also view my portfolio and Instagram stream. I am available for commissions or print sales. Do get in touch.
I also work as a UI / UX designer. You can find more information and cont(r)act me at Sons of Pioneers.
Personal
I am a transgender woman, undergoing transition. I use she / her /hers pronouns.
I write a regular blog, intended to shed a journalistic light on the day to day experience of transitioning in 21st Century Britain for the general (not specifically trans) reader.
You can dive into this narrative by visiting the Biography (a wider view of my daily life experience) or Transition (a more focused subset specifically on the subject) categories.
